CamCreative was established in October 2008 by Paul Smith of Smith & Saunders and Spice who saw that while Cambridge was recognised worldwide as a leader in technology, innovation and entrepreneurship and for the brilliance of Cambridge University its creative industries were not given enough prominence.

The first meeting took place in the Tram Depot pub but soon after moved to the main bar at The Arts Picturehouse where we happily stayed for a time. However, after some noise issues we had a brief flirt with The B Bar and have now taken up residency in The Fountain Inn on Regent Street for the last Wednesday of every month.

Our meet-ups are always busy, lively and above all informal events (no hardcore networking here!), featuring a speaker giving a talk on a creative topic (usually around 20 mins) followed by the opportunity for Q&A and then to mingle and chat.

Event organiser Sue Keogh says,

“Far from being a stuffy networking event, CamCreative is all about building relationships with fellow creatives. As well as leading to collaborations on new projects it’s a great source of friendship, information and support, whether you’re part of a large company or run a small business.”

The team is now three strong, with Paul having drafted in Sue Keogh and Steve O’Connor to help organise and run the largest creative group in East Anglia!
